Legal and operational information

Photo privacy

The minimum privacy controls expected at an eSelfie visitor photo point.

Last updated: 3 August 2026

Visitor-triggered capture

An eSelfie photo is initiated by a visitor through the QR flow. The mobile page should identify the responsible venue or operator, state the purpose and retention period, and provide access to the applicable notice before capture.

Separate from surveillance

Where eSelfie works alongside CCTV, surveillance and visitor photography remain separate in purpose, access and visitor information. Surveillance footage does not automatically become part of eSelfie.

Delivery and publication

The result is provided through a private, time-limited route. eSelfie does not automatically publish visitor photos. Gallery or promotional publication requires a separate valid basis and documented approval.

Retention

The venue selects a documented retention period appropriate to its service configuration. The applicable period is shown before capture. A visitor can contact the identified controller to request deletion where the law provides that right.

Marketing

Taking or downloading a photo must not require consent to unrelated marketing. Any email delivery or marketing option requires its own clear purpose and choice.
